Lengthy preparation comes to fruition this month with the Kick It Out organisation’s 2007 Week of Action that will take place between 18-30 October.
Kick It Out is football’s anti-racism campaign and works throughout the football, educational and community sectors to challenge racism and work for positive change. All will come together to get behind the message 'One Game, One Community' to raise the awareness of anti- racism in football. HOSANA Sportswear is the official supplier of the clothing that will be used by those involved in all the activities.
HOSANA has designed and manufactured a range of merchandise that includes T.Shirts, football training tops and the hugely popular sweatbands. Players of all levels are encouraged to show their support by wearing the merchandise to generate publicity.
Already this season numerous players including Tom Huddlestone, Sol Campbell, Darren Bent, Sean Davis, Marcus Bent, Jermaine Defoe and Jobi McAnuff have been wearing the ‘Kick Racism’ sweatbands in matches.
In addition a photo shoot featuring four of the high flying Man City players was organised at their Carrington training ground. Numerous phone calls were made to players, agents, photographers and club officials to make the shoot happen. It was all well worthwhile in the end as England star Micah Richards was joined by his colleagues Nedum Onuoha , Stephen Ireland and Ishmael Miller to take the photographs.
Nedum Onuoha was a particular coup following the abuse he received at the Under 21 European Championships in during the summer. All four players were in their elements and the library of images that were generated on the day is proof that the players were keen to get their GQ groove on.
