The Bexhill Giants of the Sussex League plan to stage two end of season tournaments on the 16 & 17 May 2009.

The proposal is as follows:

Day 1; will see the two European teams compete against each other, and two English teams 1 & 2. 3 games per team.

Day 2; The same two European teams will compete against each other again a new English team 3, and the host team Bexhill Giants.3 games per team.

If only 1 European team can attend the invitation will be open the invitation to other teams English/ British teams. This will be based on a first application received basis, so please submit your interest as soon as possible as the event is provisionally only open to potentially three English teams.

The objective of the tournament is to provide the English teams with three competitive matches, two against European opposition, over the weekend and promote and raise the profile of English basketball.

The matches will be played on normal FIBA rules and 4 x 8 minutes per quarter, stopping clock.

The entry fee for each team will be European £200 = Euro 290, English teams GBP £100.

Acommodation can be arranged at the Travelodge in Hastings, 5 miles from the venue at £29 per night, if booked 1 month in advance alternatively £59 per night with three adults sharing a room. There are hotels and Bed and Breakfasts which can be booked in the town of Bexhill, which cost approximately £60 per night.

The tournament will be open to teams of local and National League standard and players must be over 18years of age and hold valid registrations of their respective leagues.

The first match will start at 11am on both days and conclude at approximately 4pm.

Teams will be responsible for ensuring they bring a referee to officiate matches, if this is not available an additional fee of £50 will be added to the entry fee.

Food and drink will be available at a low cost at the venue on both days, as will medals and trophies.
