SURREY BASKETBALL
Surrey Basketball Association run Central Venue Leagues on Sunday mornings for:
U12, U14 and U16 players. The U12 & U14 games are mixed.
A sub committee of the Surrey Basketball Association oversees the organisation of the CVLs.
This season there are:
12 x U12 teams: Brentwood (2), Cobham, Elmbridge, Epsom Rockets, Guildford Heat, Kingston Slammers, Kingston Wildcats, London Towers, Spelthorne Atoms, Sunbury Sonics, Woking Blackhawks.
9 x U14 teams: Brentwood, Cobham, Epsom Rockets, Guildford Heat, Kingston Wildcats, Spelthorne Atoms, Sunbury Sonics, TASIS Royals,
Woking Blackhawks
10 x U16 teams: Cobham, Guildford Heat, HSC Lanfranc, Kingston Wildcats, London Towers, Mole Valley, Reigate Falcons, Sunbury Sonics, Waverley Warriors, Woking Blackhawks.
The CVL started on 4 November with the following results:
U12 Brentwood Fire Girls 37 – 50 Kingston Wildcats
Brentwood Fire Girls 22 – 68 London Towers *
Kingston Wildcats 26 – 72 London Towers *
Towers default due to only having 4 players
U14 Elmbridge 9 – 103 Spelthorne Atoms
Cobham 38 - 3 Sunbury Sonics
U16 Cobham 76 - Guildford Heat 33
Kingston Wildcats 58 - 94 HSC Lanfranc
This is a great development competition but unfortunately it suffers from a lack of officials. Surrey Basketball needs more referees to come along and assist in officiating the CVLs games on Sunday morning. We try and use Level 1 referees to progress but need experienced referees to assist.
