Special Preview: Dave Chappelle's Block Party Wed 28 June 8.30 NFT1
Offering filmgoers front-row seats at a unique entertainment and communal experience, Dave Chappelle's Block Party showcases how vital and vibrant music and humour can be.
In 2004, inspired in part by the 1972 Wattstax concert, US comedian Dave Chappelle, along with his friends and fans, assembled a dream line up of music and comedy for an old-school block party in Brooklyn. Directed by Michel Gondry, the film follows the preparations for the once-in-a-lifetime event, as well as the party itself. And what a party it is, featuring knock-out performances by Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, The Roots and - reunited for their first performance in over seven years - The Fugees.
